031-2020 – Teatime

Today, everyone in the office at CASS Business School stopped working and gathered together for a short tea break. I believe it’s a great idea and an easy team building activity everyone should try at least once a week. So, day 31 photo of the day, part of “a photo a day challenge 2020” is this top-down image of our table setup right before the first slice of cake has been cut. 028-2020 – How not to microwave a bagel

Today I learned how not to microwave a bagel and the image below will definitely deserve to be photo of the day, part of a photo a day challenge 2020. The long story short, I wanted to make a smoked mackerel on a bagel sandwich, but my bagel was cold and wanted to warm it up a little bit. I placed the bagel on a plate and left it for about 1 minute in the microwave. Bad idea, water inside the bagel turned into steam. Steam and starch made it chewy. I had to throw it away. I didn’t give […]

026-2020 – Learning to drive

Day 26/366, part of a photo a day challenge 2020 is about my daughter Diana learning to drive. 025-2020 – Mr. Rabbit

Day 25/366, part of a photo a day challenge 2020, is dedicated to Mr. Rabbit and his hilarious behaviour that made my daughter laugh with tears.Everything started when Diana, my daughter asked me: – Daddy, what‘s this? – I said, it’s a display cabinet to store plates. Would you like me to make you some plates? – Yes please, said Diana. I started cutting pieces of cardboard, into round objects, pretending to be plates. Then, I found an empty cardboard box and made a table out of it. Next, we sat the dollies and Mr. Rabbit at the table and […]

024-2020 – Fish and Chips with a view

Friday, 24 January 2020 is the day when I normally eat Fish and Chips for lunch. It may look good and the view might have been spectacular, but I didn’t enjoy it. The chips were overcooked and dry. However, I picked the next image to represent the photo of the day. 023-2020 – Purple Sky

Today’s image part of a photo a day challenge 2020 goes towards the sky and not any kind of sky, but a purple one. I was on the bike when I first saw the purple sky and initially I thought is from a billboard or something. But then I got to Bank and here it was again. 022-2020 – 5 a side football

Day 22/366 was foggy from start to finish. This is how Westgate Shopping Park car park looked in the morning. I would like the picture of the day to mean something to me or to bring back memories in the future. For that reason the picture of the day goes to the following image. This image will always remind me about the 5 a side football game I played on court 4, Basildon Sporting Village on a misty evening. I have to admit that I run out of breath after 5 minutes of playing. Somehow I managed to score twice. […]

021-2020 – Two trees

Today was a frosty morning. The moon was a day after Waning Crescent phase and looked amazing against the blue sky. I tried to capture it with my phone, but it doesn’t do it justice. It looks like a blob in between the Two Trees. I have to admit that I’m impressed by the iPhone 11 Pro photo capability. This photo was taken handheld at 3s. A few years ago this was unheard of. For that reason, I made it photo of day 21, part of a photo a day challenge 2020. 1 likes Related posts: 007-2020 – The Big […]

020-2020 – Potato Gratin with Ham

Today’s photo is dedicated to my wife. She kindly prepared a delicious meal, Potato Gratin with Ham, inspired from a book called “Recipes from around the world – Favourite potato Dishes”. To top it all up, she added 2 Chicken Kiev to the plate. 019-2020 – Stars Photography with a twist

Today, I’ll teach you how to take stars photography without even stepping outside. Sometimes, I like to capture star trails like these. If you wish to be able to take similar images, you will need a table or a clothes dryer, a fluffy blanket, a small tripod, a phone holder, a smartphone and the £1.99 Slow shutter cam app. Works best if the room is bright. Next, hide underneath the blanket and start shooting. The idea came to me when my daughter asked me to build her a house so she can play with her toys. The clothes dryer was […]

018-2020 – Basildon town centre is changing

Basildon town centre is changing every day. Today was a cold sunny day in Basildon. Despite the freezing conditions, we’ve decided to go out and explore the new redeveloped Basildon Town Centre. In the East Square, demolition work is well underway, making room for the new Basildon town centre’s new 10-screen cinema and six new restaurants. Photo of the day 18 goes to the demolition of Basildon East Square. 017-2020 – Sleeping Beauty

On day 17 of 2020 (a photo a day challenge) my daughter slept in her own bed the entire night for the first time. For that reason alone this picture will be crowned “the photo of the day”. I would like to take the opportunity to thank Peter Rabbit (the book) and my wife who read the story until our daughter fall asleep. 016-2020 – Leading Lines to St Paul’s Cathedral

Day 16 image goes to St Paul’s Cathedral. For more than 10 years, I photographed this building from different angles, but so far this is my favourite spot. If you wish to take the same shot, visit One New Change shopping centre and go towards the west exit. You will stumble upon this view of St Paul’s Cathedral. Just beautiful! 0 likes Related posts: 002-2020 – Waiting for the train 003-2020 – Echo, echo 004-2020 – Mic check 005-2020 – English Holly Hedge 006-2020 – 110 Fenchurch Street 007-2020 – The Big Bang 008-2020 – Free Bike 009-2020 – Last […]

015-2020 – Coloured Circles

I’m torn between these two images and I don’t know which one to choose as the photo of the day (part of “a photo a day challenge 2020”). I have decided that Day 15 photo of the day goes to the second image, the one with blue, green and red circles. This is mainly because in the first image (orange, yellow and red), the circles in the middle are a bit overexposed. On the flip side, I like the way the yellow and orange is reflected in the pavement. If you wish to find out more about the art sculptures, […]

014-2020 – The Walkie Talkie Building under the moonlight

Day 14 photo of the day (part of the “a photo a day challenge 2020”) goes to The Walkie Talkie Building. Some people may know this building as 20 Fenchurch Street or the Sky Garden, due to its top floor restaurant. This image was captured around 7:30 am in the morning, as I was coming out of Fenchurch Street Station. 013-2020 – London City Police in action

Today’s photo of the day (part of “a photo a day challenge 2020”) is about a street scene in which London City Police stopped a BMW not far from St Paul’s Cathedral. I am afraid I don’t have any details about what really happened. I hope is just a routine check, even though I was surprised about the number of police officers and cars involved. What do you think?
