239-2020 – Happy Birthday Diana

Today’s photo of the day, part of “a photo a day challenge 2020”, is a group photo taken during my daughter’s birthday – Happy Birthday Diana! Today, she turned 4. Family and friends were next to her on this special day to bring presents and wish her a traditional happy birthday! Mini mouse was present too and was the highlight of the party. All the kids gathered around it and took pictures together. Shortly after, the Peppa Pig birthday cake arrived! A total success! Thank you all for making my daughter’s birthday special! 236-2020 – Fixing the ATV

Today’s photo of the day, part of “a photo a day challenge 2020”, is about fixing the ATV, by inspecting the spark plug. Apparently, it is not a good idea to have the ATV not being used for long periods of time because impurities in the gasoline clog the system and the ATV won’t start. We also believe that the problem is the spark plug because the ATV starts when gasoline gets pushed in directly in the burning chamber, but as soon you stop it, won’t start again. If any of you has an idea how to get this going, […]

235-2020 – Gulas

Today’s photo of the day, part of “a photo a day challenge 2020”, is about a traditional dish in Transilvania: Gulas Our neighbours invited us to join them for lunch and they cooked a wonderful Gulas with chicken and polenta. They made it in a crockpot hanging over a wooden fire. Delicious! The food was wonderful, but the homemade cognac topped it all. Smooth and aromatic. Like, comment & share! 1 likes

231-2020 – Hitting the nail in the head

Today’s photo of the day, part of “a photo a day challenge 2020”, is about my neighbour hitting the nail in the head literally, while sitting on top of his future garage roof. In one day, two people managed to build a garage and a workshop enclosure. Cudos to them, impressive what skill people can do. Fair to say that a lot more work is required, but the main structure is up. Like, comment & share! 3 likes

230-2020 – Circle of Fire

Today’s photo of the day, part of “a photo a day challenge 2020”, is about the Circle of Fire. In order to achieve this image, I used a chain with a burning piece of wood at the other end and spin it for 60 seconds. I used the Slow shutter app on my iPhone 11 Pro and this is the end result. I have tried to use different illumination sources and settings and I got something like this… This small house was behind the circle of fire but it was very dark in the garden tonight. 227-2020 – Early Birthday Celebration

Today’s photo of the day, part of “a photo a day challenge 2020”, is about my early birthday celebration. Tomorrow I’ll be 42 years old, but I feel younger than ever. Today we’ll start the celebration a bit early with a bottle of silver tequila “Patron” 100% de Agave – The perfect white spirit made from the finest Weber Blue Agave. Thank god these things don’t get spoiled, because it’s at least 5 years old. Like, comment & share! 1 likes

226-2020 – Two Chickens Dust Bathing in the Garden

Today’s photo of the day, part of “a photo a day challenge 2020”, is about two chickens dust bathing in the garden. A chicken dust bath helps to remove excess oil, as well as external parasites like lice and mites. My mother-in-law has spread a handful of wood ash to create a dust bathing area for them to do the work themselves. When done bathing, the chicken will shake off any excess ash and dead parasites. As usual, I hope you’ve learned something. Like, comment & share! 2 likes

224-2020 – Pallet Bench

Today’s photo of the day, part of “a photo a day challenge 2020”, is about my first completed pallet bench garden furniture project. From start to finish the entire process took about 4 hours and the most time-consuming task was painting the pallets. Next, we will add a few pillows for extra comfort and rounding a few corners. For now, the bench found its place underneath a mulberry tree where my father-in-law used to sit. If anyone is interested, maybe I can make a short tutorial on how you can make your own pallet sofa. 223-2020 – My Little Helper

Today’s photo of the day, part of “a photo a day challenge 2020”, is about my little helper, who is painting the last pallet, soon to become a comfy bench. I still haven’t decided on the final design. My neighbour has a vertical rear panel, but I am thinking to have it on an angle in case I want to slouch. Any suggestions are more than welcome. 221-2020 – Mushrooms Stew

Today’s photo of the day, part of “a photo a day challenge 2020”, is about the mushrooms stew I’ve made out of the mushrooms we got yesterday. I’ve used Chanterelle (Cantharellus cibarius) mushrooms only. I chopped two red onions, 5 garlic cloves, 1 bell pepper and 1 tomato. After a few minutes I added the mushrooms and a bit of stock. I forgot to mention that I boiled the mushrooms beforehand and simmered them before adding them to the stew. I seasoned the stew with a bit of salt and cayenne. On a second pan I boiled some water and […]

220-2020 – Mushrooms

Today’s photo of the day, part of “a photo a day challenge 2020”, is about a bunch of fresh mushrooms from the forest. I have to admit that I don’t know which are good to eat and which one are poisonous, but the guy who brought them to us is an expert on mushroom, plus my mother-in-law knows a lot about mushrooms too. 218-2020 – Yellow Flowers

Today’s photo of the day, part of “a photo a day challenge 2020”, is about an interesting phenomenon I noticed in my garden in regards to these yellow flowers. In the morning, these yellow flowers were covering a good chunk of the garden, as seen in the picture above, but in the afternoon they were gone. On a closer look, it seems that these yellow flowers don’t like the sun’s heat too much and they close up, as you can see in the image below. Like, comment & share! 1 likes

214-2020 – Killer Claws

Today’s photo of the day, part of “a photo a day challenge 2020”, is about the “killer claws” that struck our family today. My father-in-law passed away this morning at 4 am after fighting for his life for 1 week due to a cerebral stroke which rendered him unconscious. God blessed his soul! 1 likes
