337-2020 – German Sausage from Basildon Christmas Market

Today’s photo of the day, part of “a photo a day challenge 2020”, is of German Sausage from Basildon Christmas Market. Today, a four-week lockdown ends, but England enters a tougher version of its three tier system of restrictions. Some restrictions will be relaxed over Christmas to allow three households to form a “Christmas bubble”, because we all know that the virus is not a threat during the festive period. Anyways, let’s take advantage of the ‘government’s kindness’ and enjoy a tasty German sausage and a glass of mulled wine, during the lunch break. Like, comment & share! 1 likes

336-2020 – Contrails or Chemtrails

Today’s photo of the day, part of “a photo a day challenge 2020”, is about the white trails planes leave behind in the sky: Contrails or Chemtrails? Allegedly, contrails or vapour trails are line-shaped clouds produced by aircraft engine exhaust or changes in air pressure, typically at aircraft cruising altitudes several miles above the Earth’s surface. Contrails are composed primarily of water, in the form of ice crystals. Some believe that long-lasting condensation trails are “chemtrails” consisting of chemical or biological agents left in the sky by high-flying aircraft, sprayed for nefarious purposes undisclosed to the general public. It’s true […]

335-2020 – BMW Servicing Specialists

Today’s photo of the day, part of “a photo a day challenge 2020”, is about Power Developments: the actual BMW Servicing Specialists in Basildon. A few days ago my car developed some ABS issues, and happy to say that now are resolved, thanks to the specialists at Power Developments. My takeaway from this experience is: don’t use any garage and try to find a garage specialised on the kind of car you are having, even though is a bit more expensive. The previous garage I went to asked £160 to fix my issue and they couldn’t, but wasted a day […]

332-2020 – Little Princess

Today’s photo of the day, part of “a photo a day challenge 2020”, is about a little princess who visited our Ozgo Productions studio to celebrate her birthday with a photo session. I used a Canon 5D Mark 3 with a 70-200mm f/2.8L lens and a black background because she was wearing a yellow dress and I wanted the greatest contrast between the subject and the background. 330-2020 – ABS Issues

Today’s photo of the day, part of “a photo a day challenge 2020”, is about my ABS issues warning lights on my dashboard. If anyone can recommend a good mechanic around Basildon area would be really helpful. Like, comment & share! 1 likes

329-2020 – Mother and Child Statue in Basildon Town Centre

Today’s photo of the day, part of “a photo a day challenge 2020”, is about the mother and child statue in Basildon Town Centre. If you look closely, you might notice that someone considered that the initial sculpture is missing something to be a complete work of art, so they have added a traffic cone on top. Not the most funny art installation, but still a creative approach to and existent iconic ‘The Mother and Child’ fountain situated in the central plaza of the Basildon town centre. Luckily, the addition is not permanent and the traffic cone can be easily […]

325-2020 – Red Grapefruit on Black Background

Today’s photo of the day, part of “a photo a day challenge 2020”, is of a red grapefruit on black background, shot in my studio @Ozgo Productions. Most doctors recommend eating Ruby Red grapefruit for the more potent antioxidants. The Ruby Red grapefruit has twenty-eight times more vitamin A than the original white grapefruit. Just like vitamin C, vitamin A works as a powerful antioxidant. Like, comment & share! 1 likes

322-2020 – Lemon Mold

Today’s photo of the day, part of “a photo a day challenge 2020”, is a studio shot of a lemon with green mold on it. Please remember, if your bread, lemon, apple jam tomato sauce etc has any amount of mold on it, don’t just remove the mold layer and continue using that product, because a cancerous substances called aflatoxins already contaminated your food. 321-2020 – Santa is coming to town

Today’s photo of the day, part of “a photo a day challenge 2020”, is about Santa coming to town a little bit early this year, probably confused by the lockdown. It looks like due to the cold and flu season, in UK the Christmas will happen via Zoom. I even spotted Santa in his sledge in the sky a little bit earlier. Ho-Ho-Ho Merry Lockdown Everyone!Like, comment & share! 3 likes

320-2020 – Huge Pink Boots

Today’s photo of the day, part of “a photo a day challenge 2020”, is about the girl in the swing with huge pink boots. Obviously, my daughter doesn’t have huge feet, but they may look huge if I used a wide angle lens and her feet are close to the lens. To avoid distortion to my subject’s face, I placed her head in the middle of the frame. You might say that everyone knows this camera trick by now, except the people who install cameras on rackets and satellites, unless they do it on purpose. But then why they would […]

319-2020 – Heineken

Today’s photo of the day, part of “a photo a day challenge 2020”, is of a can of Heineken on a black background. This is my wife’s favourite lager beer, but not my favourite subject to photograph in my studio. Because of the shiny surface, it’s very easy to get reflections you don’t want. 316-2020 – Drawing in the garden

Today’s photo of the day, part of “a photo a day challenge 2020”, is about my daughter drawing in the garden. Not long ago she would draw all over the paper, but recently I have noticed how she is more careful and draws within the contour of the subject. Like, comment & share! 3 likes

314-2020 – Food Carving

Today’s photo of the day, part of “a photo a day challenge 2020”, is about my first attempt at food carving. The image above should resemble an owl. I used two apples, and two raisin for eyes and a few toothpicks to bring the body parts together. Was fun. I will try different animals in the future. Like, comment & share! 3 likes

312-2020 – Behind the lens

Today’s photo of the day, part of “a photo a day challenge 2020”, is about one of those proud father moments when my daughter went behind the lens, directing and actually taking pictures of her friends. Usually, with any other activity her attention span is really short, a few minutes the most before she comes up with one of her lines: “I’m tired” Or “I’m bored”.Today after 30 minutes she was still going and I had to turn off the studio lights to signal that the photo session is over. Some of the images from this photoshoot can be seen […]

308-2020 – Bananas

Today’s photo of the day, part of “a photo a day challenge 2020”, is about two bananas on a mirror in the Ozgo Productions studio. The setup was really simple, one flash head shooting through a snoot, about 45 degrees from the subject pointing down. The main benefit of using a snoot is controlling the light. It restricts the spread to a narrow beam, so that some areas of the frame are not lit at all. In our tabletop example, the bananas are highlighted and the background is totally black. 306-2020 – Back to the UK

Today’s photo of the day, part of “a photo a day challenge 2020”, is about a moment worth remembering, after 3 months in Romania the entire family is back to the UK. Initially we were thinking to return for good in Romania, but after 3 months we realised that nothing has changed and I don’t think it will change anytime soon. As my wife said, “Let’s not forget why we left in the first place”. In conclusion, we would like that our daughter will have the best opportunity for a decent life, with less unnecessary struggles if possible and if […]

302-2020 – Moonrise Over Carpathian Mountains

Today’s photo of the day, part of “a photo a day challenge 2020”, is of the moonrise over carpathian mountains as seen from above Tarlung Reservoir. In reality, the moon looked much bigger and I wished I had a zoom lens to capture the scene. Nevertheless, the aerial shot brings its own advantage – a unique vantage point, which makes the image better. Like, comment & share! 3 likes

299-2020 – Family Portrait

Today’s photo of the day, part of “a photo a day challenge 2020”, is a family portrait captured in the patio of Branești residence. 292-2020 – Oven cooked gander

Today’s photo of the day, part of “a photo a day challenge 2020”, is about an oven cooked gander meal with mash potatoes. I’ve marinated the meat in 14 years old red wine, freshly squeezed orange juice, salt and pepper for 24 hours in the fridge. Today, I took it out and left it at room temperature for three hours before I shoved it into the log burner oven. Beforehand, I chopped two onions, apples, carrots and mix it with salt, pepper and spices. In the cooking tray where the marinated sauce was, I’ve added the chopped vegetables and lay […]

290-2020 – Masks do work

Today’s photo of the day, part of “a photo a day challenge 2020”, is about a discovery I’ve made about masks, and I can say with 100% certainty that masks do work…when painting the fence! Painting the fence when self isolating is the perfect excuse to wear a mask and “protect” everyone around you against COVID-19. My family lost someone already because of this virus, due to the lack of care in Romanian hospitals, since almost all of them are focused on treating patients with COVID-19 and neglect or refuse to treat patients with every other disease. My father-in-law had […]

289-2020 – Using a blowtorch

Today’s photo of the day, part of “a photo a day challenge 2020”, is of me using a blowtorch on an old friend – Mr. Gander. Today, I have learned that the male goose is called gander! If you are skirmish, I don’t recommend reading the next paragraph or check the images below! by Augustin Galatanu I never sacrificed a chicken in my life, so catching and killing a gander was a nerve racking experience. After chasing him a few lapses around the house with a pitchfork in my hand, I finally cornered him as he entered the basement of […]

282-2020 – Monster Truck

Today’s photo of the day, part of “a photo a day challenge 2020”, is of a monster truck on a black background photographed with only one spotlight. In order to capture this image I only used one spotlight to illuminate both the subject and the background at the same time. I placed the car on a mirror to get a nice reflection and then in Lightroom I cropped the image 1 x 1 (square) aspect ratio and adjusted the brightness slightly to make the car pop out a little bit. Below, is a behind the scenes image, in case you […]

278-2020 – Rewire Outdoor Light

Today’s photo of the day, part of “a photo a day challenge 2020”, is about rewire outdoor light and feed it through the wall. For about two years the cable of the outdoor light was running through a small window and during the winter I could feel the draft running down my neck. To fix the issue, I had to detach the wire from the rear of the light in order to be able to run it through the hole in the wall. Long story short, the issue has been fixed and I can fully close the window now. Why […]

277-2020 – Skilled Carpenter at Work

Today’s photo of the day, part of “a photo a day challenge 2020”, is about a skilled carpenter fitting an interior door. Incidentally, the workbench was set up in the middle of Ozgo Production’s studio so I got my camera out and ready to shoot. Apparently, the job seems simple, but I was surprised by how many tools are necessary to complete the task to a professional level. From trimming the bottom of the door to ensure the door will fit the carpet, to chopping in the handle, each step will require different tools – as you can see in […]

275-2020 – White Fan on a Black Background

Today’s photo of the day, part of “a photo a day challenge 2020”, is about a white fan on a black background. I also captured the same image under different flash power settings from 1/64 to 1/4, at 1/200 sec, F8, ISO100 to see when the back light/rim light is overpowered by the speedlight’s power. Below is a quick animation I created with ezgif.com. How to Add Animated GIF Images in WordPress in one easy step. 274-2020 – Panda Bear Plush Toy

Today’s photo of the day, part of “a photo a day challenge 2020”, is about my daughter’s Panda Bear Plush Toy on a black background. This images started with a black background and a white surface made of polystyrene. I was intrigued by the contrast and challenged myself to capture a black and white object in this environment. If you look closely in the toy’s eyes you can see where I got the lighting setup idea. Three-point lighting setup In order to achieve this setup I needed 3 lights. I had the back light (Elinchrom D-lite 400 flash head with […]

273-2020 – Watermelon Slice

Today’s photo of the day, part of “a photo a day challenge 2020”, is about a more creative way to present a watermelon slice. 272-2020 – Passion Fruit

Today’s photo of the day, part of “a photo a day challenge 2020”, is of a passion fruit cut in half on a black background. Know when to stop shooting! This is the first shot out of 3 in total. After the 3rd shot, I decided that the first image will suffice, so I stopped shooting. I took the card out of the camera and went upstairs and started editing on Adobe Lightroom Classic. I imported the 3 images and gave the first image 3 stars. Usually, when I have more images, this star rating helps me sort out the […]

271-2020 – Papaya Multiple Exposures

Today’s photo of the day, part of “a photo a day challenge 2020”, is about Papaya fruit captured using a feature in my camera called Multiple Exposures. In case you haven’t noticed, in this image is only a half of papaya fruit on a black background, but as I mentioned above, on a Canon EOS 5D Mark III there is a built-in feature called “multiple exposures”. How to I used Multiple Exposures feature? In short, I enabled the multiple exposures feature, selected “additive” option with only 2 exposures (each exposure is added to the final image cumulatively) and rotated the […]

269-2020 – Pineapple on a black background

Today’s photo of the day, part of “a photo a day challenge 2020”, is about a pineapple on a black background. This image was taken in Ozgo Production’s small studio with a Canon EOS 5D Mark III, a manual macro lens (F22), an Elinchrom flash head with a snoot on a light stand shooting down from above, but the key light was from a Canon speedlight flash on camera pointed at the object, exposure, 1/200 sec, ISO 100. In Ozgo Productions studio we captured different fruits on a black background like this apple or a small Daddy Pig toy, to […]

267-2020 – Selfie Family Time

Today’s photo of the day, part of “a photo a day challenge 2020”, is about selfie family time initiated by our daughter. 266-2020 – Cutting Firewood with a Chainsaw

Today’s photo of the day, part of “a photo a day challenge 2020”, is about cutting firewood with a chainsaw. I have no experience cutting firewood with a chainsaw, but our neighbour Gabi offered to help. He brought his own Stihl chainsaw and heavy duty wood log splitter. Tomorrow will have to stack all the firewood inside, next to the fireplace. Winters are harsh in Romania, and for that reason we have to prepare in advance, while the sun is still shining, because is not advisable to use wet or green wood in the fireplace. If you do, you might […]

265-2020 – Silver Metal Whistle

Today’s photo of the day, part of “a photo a day challenge 2020”, is about a silver metal blowing whistle. In order to take this image I used my iPhone 11 Pro a piece of white tissue on the kitchen table using the available light. The edit was done in Lightroom mobile, white balance, cropping and masking the object with my finger to get the white background. I have to admit that is not perfect, but it’s amazing what can be done these days on a smartphone. Like, comment & share! 2 likes

260-2020 – Gentle Touch

Today’s photo of the day, part of “a photo a day challenge 2020”, is of my daughter’s gentle touch with the neighbour’s cat called Lemonade. Poor cat, sometimes I feel for her. She is dragged all over the garden and trained to walk like a human or squeezed firmly by the neck, with all the love in the world. On the other hand I don’t see her complaining too much, and only noticed a few scratches here and there on my daughter’s arm and face. Like, comment & share! 2 likes

254-2020 – Two cute little cats

Today’s photo of the day, part of “a photo a day challenge 2020”, is about our two cute little cats, only a few weeks old. These two kittens were born on 26 August 2020 in a cupboard on top of a pair of winter fluffy comfy boots, and since then their mother hidden them until today. Today’s photo of the day, part of “a photo a day challenge 2020”, is about the final goodbye family and friends wished to my father in law. In many traditions around the world, the memorial of a loved one doesn’t end after the funeral. While the memorial service is the last chance to say goodbye to the deceased in many cultures and religions, some believe the mourning process lasts for 40 days. There is a belief that the soul continues to wander the Earth for another 40 days after the initial death. While wandering, the soul visits significant places from their life as […]

Today’s photo of the day, part of “a photo a day challenge 2020”, is about the white house with the red rooftop I see everyday from my kitchen window. Because our houses are located in a valley, most days the top of the hills are covered with a white blanket of clouds and this is the view I see quite often. Spectacular I would say! Another interesting fact is that the white house with red rooftop was the only house in the Doftana Valley in 2003, when my in-laws started the construction of their house. Today’s photo of the day, part of “a photo a day challenge 2020”, is about fixing the ATV, by inspecting the spark plug. Apparently, it is not a good idea to have the ATV not being used for long periods of time because impurities in the gasoline clog the system and the ATV won’t start. We also believe that the problem is the spark plug because the ATV starts when gasoline gets pushed in directly in the burning chamber, but as soon you stop it, won’t start again.
