206-2020 – Family Reunion Photoshoot

Today’s photo of the day, part of “a photo a day challenge 2020”, is one of the few images I managed to capture during our ad-hoc family reunion in Preston.

Family Reunion, Preston, July 2020

What is not visible in the photo is heated debate we’ve had in regards to where is best location to take the photo. A few things to consider: my mum just had hip surgery a week before, my stepfather had a stroke a few years ago and can’t stand up still for too long, my daughter started crying, one of my sisters hate having me taking her photo because 10 years ago I took a photo of her and I didn’t pay attention and her hat wasn’t properly adjusted. Usually, the most challenging task is trying to capture a 9 months old baby looking at the camera, but that wasn’t the case because my nephew loves the camera.
I had my iPhone 11 Pro on small tripod, on top of a chair, on top of a small table and set the timer to 10 seconds. The light was coming through a large window on the other side of the room, illuminating everyone evenly. Luckily the second shot was a success. What a relief!
With the group photo out of the way, everyone felt more relaxed and happy to take a few more images, just for fun.

The entire session didn’t take longer that 15 minutes. I will print some of the images and cherish them for years to come.
