Today’s photo of the day, part of “a photo a day challenge 2020”, is about my Ideal Combi Boiler Repair experience.
The long story short, my boiler was taking a long time to make hot water and recently developed a rumble noise, usually after I used the hot water, but not exclusively. See below video.
I service my boiler every year and this year the hot water issue it happened just before the service day, so my hopes were really high that will be solved. It didn’t. Instead, Jake the boiler engineer said that the Plate Head Exchanger is the issue and we should buy another boiler. Total cost with installation and everything around £1600. Initially we said that we will get back to him, but we didn’t. This was back in January.
As I said, a few days ago the rumble noise appeared. I almost decided to call Jake and take him upon his offer. Luckily, I didn’t.
Instead, I looked over all the relevant boiler documents and I found that the boiler had free warranty until the end of 2020. I called them, and explain the problem and in 3 days I had a boiler engineer send to my house, free of charge.
After about 2 hours, my boiler was fixed. Below are the items he replaced.
